Brown Recluse or Black Widow Spider bites

If you think you were bitten, apply a cool wet cloth to the bite. Apply a cream such as benadry to relieve the itching. Watch for the following symptoms.

Signs and symptoms:
  • Deep purple or blue area around the bite surrounded by whitish ring and an outer red ring.
  • Muscle spasms, tightness and stiffness.
  • Body rash
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Abdominal pain
  • Pink or reddish urine
  • General feeling of sickness
  • Lack of appetite
Signs of an allergic reaction include:
  • Swelling of the face or mouth
  • Difficulty swallowing or speaking
  • Chest tightness, wheezing or difficulty breathing
  • Dizziness or fainting
  • Abnormal pain

If you experience any of these symptoms after coming in contact with a spider, medical attention is needed.
